Striker 400 Watt Electric Conversion Kit

ZBike offer THE BEST electric conversion kit in Australia at the lowest price.

Features at a glance:

    • Batteries are included in the kit
    • Powerful 400-watt “in hub” motor
    • Rear wheel fitting
    • Motors are pre-fitted into an adult size alloy mountain bike style wheel rim (with tyre and inner tube)
    • Battery charger is included
    • Simple operation throttle twist grip.
    • Deliver is included in the price.

Our kits provide not only all motor components, but the batteries as well – Normally the most expensive component and excluded from most kits on the market.

Our kits are the best electric conversions available – The “in hub” motor is completely independent of chain drive and gears making the system the neatest and most straight forward to fit.

Our kits are intended as a rear wheel conversion, as these provide far better conversion than front wheel kits, (wheels can also be fitted to front of push bikes). Rear wheel conversion minimizes stress on the front forks and frame of the bike which is often an area of failure on front wheel conversions. The rear wheel drive also removes the “awkward” feel of a front wheel motor and provides better traction in gravel or off road conditions.

The 400-watt motors are pre fitted into an adult size mountain bike wheel rim to remove the DIY effort of having the motor spoked into your wheel rim.

Screw threads are provided on the wheels to allow gear cluster and/or disc rotors to be fitted if required. Disc brakes and gear clusters are not included with the kit as these can be removed from your existing bike.

The AH rating of the battery determines the distance the bikes travel between recharges. The 14AH lead acid battery supplied should provide around 15Klm of travel between recharges for a 400W motor. Undulating terrain, heavy rider weight and frequent start/stop will affect the expected distance between charges.

Bikes can use the pedals and motor in any combination – bikes be pedaled without using the motor. Throttle can be used without pedaling or both throttle and pedals can be used together.

Fitting Checks

1) Ensure that your gear cluster is compatible with the depth of thread of the hub motor (See photograph and dimensions). It may be necessary to purchase a replacement gear cluster (Typically about $15 from your local bike store). We have not receive gear clusters for these motors but our customers are finding that BMX single gear or 3 gear clusters are a good fit.

If you wish to fit 5, 6 or 7 speed clusters, the inside bearing should be recessed by up to 10mm on the inside face. This will allow the cogs to sit closer to the hub. Alternatively, a spacer is required to hold the gear cluster clear of the frame.

2) The hub motors have a thin coating of paint which is not detectable. Cleaning the screw threads will make fitting the gear cluster (and disc rotor if required) easier.

3) The spade connectors for the battery should be connected in series as shown in the diagram above. Note the position of the fuse.

4) Check the tension on the spokes of the wheel rim before riding. Loose spokes are often found. Spokes should be tensioned to prevent the power of the motor pulling spokes from their seating.
